Artist Biography
The love for painting was only platonic for many years with
merchant Helmut Stroisch. Even though his father was
professionally involved in the production of art in the city
of Hamburg, Germany, and his sister is a professional artist
in Canada, he was kissed by the muse late in life. After
suffering a heart attack at age 49, he had to change his life
style and include more time for the beautiful things in life.
In 1996 Helmut decided to try a painting course with the
well-known Hamburg artist Gunda Oehm. Since then, he is
learning with Gunda how to translate his ideas into painting.
He uses any opportunity to sketch or paint small watercolours,
especially in his favorite place at the Baltic Sea. The
profound influence of his favourite German American painter
Lyonel Feininger is obvious. As Feininger, Helmut shows
space, light and perspective in a completely new relation
to each other.
Painting gives Helmut Stroisch an inner balance which was
often absent in his previous life. Originally thought as
therapy, painting has now become a firm component in his life.
